Hyung Nam Kim, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC A&T State University. He is a distinguished researcher, recognized as a 2024 ScholarGPS Top Scholar, an honor that places him in the top 0.5% of scholars globally based on research productivity, citation impact, and h-index. Specifically, he ranks #28 worldwide in the area of Visual Impairment research over the past five years, a ranking derived from a database of over 30 million scholars.
Dr. Kim's excellence has been acknowledged internally at NC A&T, where he received the 2018 Research Excellence Award, given to the top-performing tenure-track assistant professor. Furthermore, his research on activity tracking and perceived loneliness in people with visual disabilities has been selected as a finalist for the Best Paper Award in the Human Factors/Ergonomics Track at the upcoming IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2025.
